Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar 2016; Exemplar Handprints!

We are overwhelmed by the exemplary projects receavied from schools, teachers and students have done exemplary work. Puraskar 2016 saw entries from a variety of schools from all over India and we were happy to see new schools joining the network and sharing their work and existing schools sustaining and building an environment of transformative learning. Schools have provided immense support to teachers by giving their students real life experiences evident in the classroom activities and action projects. Student’s involvement in the activities was not limited to classrooms and they extended the awareness through outreach projects. Teachers have been able to design the activities showing clear curriculum linkages across subjects.

In the water theme, water flow, wastage and quality on campus was studied in great detail by students. Plantation, bird nesting, understanding the local biodiversity, maintaining biodiversity registers were popular in the biodiversity theme. In the Energy theme measures to reduce electricity wastage was the popular action along with electricity consumption audits. And Culture and Heritage theme saw students celebrating festivals in an eco-friendly manner and visiting cultural and heritage sites. The reports received are in the process of shortlisting followed by the jury process.
